I wanted to take minute to share a bit of a different post… I’m really excited to share that this little blog was nominated for the Liebster Award!

The what? Yeah, that’s what I said. I had heard of this award a few times since I started this blogging adventure a few months ago, but didn’t really take the time to look into it… until we were nominated!

So what is it?

The Liebster award is between bloggers. Basically, it’s recognition for a small blog given by another blogger. It’s a way to promote your blog and spread the love and recognition for hard work, within the blogging community. So cheers to being accepted into the blogging community!

Per the rules, I’ll answer questions given to me by the blog that nominated A Girl and a Kiwi, like a fun “get to know you” style questions. Then, I will nominate 5 other blogs for the Liebster Award, and I’ll ask them questions! You can read more about the Liebster award here.

I would like to thank Bold Spirit Rising for nominating me! Check out her blog for photography tips and inspirational quotes. Her motto is “empowering the mind whilst exploring the earth”, and I think that’s pretty cool.

My Questions from Bold Spirit Rising:

1. Why did you start blogging?

I definitely had thought about blogging long before I had started blogging. I looked into blogging on Pinterest, and was initially scared away about a post I read about failed blogs! Yikes! It wasn’t until l told my husband about maybe-potentially-sort-of-kind-of wanting to start a blog. I told him I wanted to share our story about being an international couple, our love story, our travels and all our DIY projects (we currently own several houses that all need TLC)! He loved the idea and finally convinced me to pull the trigger!!

So I did it. I did my research, started a free blogging course, and decided to start my blog through Bluehost*. I love Bluehost, they have been so “beginner friendly” with easy tutorials and emails that keep me up to date. You can read a little bit more about starting the blog here.

2. If you had endless funds, what would you do?

Oh, endless funds! Or “income streams” as James would call it! Honestly, I’d probably donate a lot to charities for kids and missions. Then, I’d pack up my husband, puppy, and a few suitcases and travel!! I lived in New Zealand for 5-years but there is still so much of the country yet to explore. I also have never been to Europe and Switzerland is definitely on my bucket list. Not to mention all the DIY projects I’d love to do once I have some time on my hands!

3. Describe a perfect day you’ve had thus far in your life.

Our wedding day was beyond perfect. Cheesy, yes, but true. It was so perfect. We were surrounded by our family and friends, in one of our favorite places, and snow was falling!! Pretty much everything went according to plan and we were so so happy! I need to do a post on our wedding, what do you think!?

4. Favorite fruit?

I LOVE fruit. So this is tough. But I’m going to have to say apples.

5. Mantra or Affirmation that keeps you positive?

I don’t really do “affirmations”. But I have some favorite verses.

Psalms 46:5 God is within her, she will not fall

Isiah 41:10 So do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed from I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Psalms 18:2 The Lord is my rock.

6. Coffee or tea?

BOTH!! But “coffee-time“ is one of my favorite times. Post coming soon!

7. If you could be anything, what would it be? (superhero not excluded)

Well, since you mentioned superhero, the super power I’d love to have is teleporting!! So I can teleport to different places all over the world, no airfare required!

8. What was your snuggle toy when you were young?

I had a pink elephant named “Pinky”.

9. Would you go camping?

James and I love camping!! We got each other sleeping bags and camping mats last year for Christmas, and this year a new tent is on our Chrimstas list this year! We used to camp in NZ all the time and are looking forward to exploring more of Michigan’s camping spots.

10. What’s one thing you’ve never done but want to?

Oh boy, there’s a lot. But the first thing that comes to mind is to ski and surf on the same day.

11. What are your top 3 values?

1. Two Kiwis Go Roaming – My best friend from college/Uni! We studied to become speech language therapists together, held each other through the stress and tears, and now are starting travel blogs! Her fiance takes amazing photos, he did our engagement pictures!

2. Happily Harrison – I went to high school with Meredith. She’s started a very cute lifestyle blog. She shares everything from travel tips, book finds, and morning routines. She also posts hilarious Instagram stories.

3. The Honey Print – I love this Nashville based lifestyle blog! She posts real-life ideas to declutter your house, weekend itineraries, and more. We are kindred spirits, I think.

4. The Home and Handcrafted – DIY and plant lover after my own heart! I really love this Denver-based blogger.

5. Travel With Scratch – Another blogging couple with itchy feet, roaming the world, tackling one adventure after the other! I love their story.
