Hey, I’m Brooke!
The girl behind “A Girl and a Kiwi“. The kiwi is my husband, James. We’ll talk more about him later. For now, let’s just jump into the blog!
At dinner with my best friend several years ago, I admitted I wanted to start a blog about the things I’m passionate about, like DIY, traveling, and relationships. “You totally should!”, she said. But I didn’t. Â I kept it to myself, quietly researching, brainstorming blog ideas at a slow pace… and I mean a very. slow. pace.

Fun fact: this same friend is the girl who came up with our wedding hashtag: #agirlandakiwi ! I loved it so much the hashtag stuck, and I use to tag all photos of James and I on Instagram.
Fast forward to June 2017.
James (my kiwi husband – you can read about how we met here) had been talking about wanting to start a business with me. I loved the idea, but also loved my job! I laughed, always promising to think about it. On a road trip, I admitted I wanted to start a blog. He had no idea what a blog was. I tried to explain… I’m still not sure he knows it what is, but nevertheless he is always supportive. That was the final push I needed to jump in.
So, I finally did. I stopped researching and started taking action! Right away, I knew what to name our blog: A Girl and a Kiwi. So, I signed up with Bluehost* and registered my domain.
Learned some blog-gy jargon (who am I kidding, I’m still learning. Can I get a dictionary?) and started dialing in the creative juices. And now we’re here! Thanks for joining in on the adventure.
Here’s to this little blog growing, inspiring others, and keeping me trucking through my long list of DIY projects!
Cheers!
