Mother-Daughter Weekend at Boyne Mountain Spa

I don’t love fall. That might be an unpopular opinion, I know. But I much prefer summer and winter. Though the leaves are really colorful, I don’t love all the rain and mud. For me, fall is just a countdown to winter. But recently my sisters, mom and I escaped the fall blues by going to Boyne Mountain Spa for a mother-daughters weekend. Here’s what we got up to on our relaxing weekend away at Boyne Mountain Spa!

Arriving at Boyne Mountain Spa

After spending Friday night in Gaylord, we are arrived at Boyne Mountain Spa and Resort early Saturday morning. Boyne’s main lodge is so beautiful with Alpine Swiss details, vintage themed paintings, high ceilings and exposed beams. All throughout the lodge they have big picturesque windows looking out at the ski hills. Instantly I felt relaxed, and also, quite inspired.

After we checked into our hotel, we headed towards the spa. As you get closer to the spa, you can start to smell all the wonderful relaxing aromas, like lavender and eucalyptus.

Arriving at the Spa

We arrived at the spa early to make the 9:00am Vinyasa flow yoga session. The yoga instructor was great, paying attention to each our needs. At the end of the class, she placed lavender scented eye masks (similar to these!) on our faces, and sprayed rose hip mist into the air. It was the perfect way to transition into the rest of the spa day. Bonus: we were the only people in the yoga class so it was like we had our own private class!

The Spa and Pool

After yoga, it was off to the locker room to change into our swimsuits. We were shown to our lockers, which were personalized with our name. Our locker keys were conveniently attached to a wristlet so it wasn’t easy to lose.

We changed into our swimsuits, grabbed a thick robe, and hit the spa pool, sauna and steam room. I love steam rooms! This one was scented with eucalyptus which was so refreshing. We relaxed and rotated between  the three for about an hour before heading into the relaxation room.

The relaxation room is a lounge where you can truly zen-out before your massage. It is beautifully lit, and they have complementary tea, fruit infused water and fresh fruit. My mom, sisters, and I put our feet up on the ultra-comfy loungers, sipped on green tea and cleansed our palates with crisp apples.

I had a 50 minute Swedish massage, which was so relaxing. The massage bed and sheets were warmed, and I chose to have citrus essential oils diffused in the room during my massage. The masseuse was so good paying special attention to the areas that were sore from being on a computer and on my feet so much.

After the massage, and feeling completely blissed out, I waited for the rest of my sisters and my mom to return from their massages in the relaxation room. After ooh-ing and ahh-ing about how relaxed we all felt, we had lunch delivered to the spa and ate lunch in our robes. Heaven!

We had a few hours before our next spa appointment, so it was back into the swimsuits and back into the pool. Boyne not only has a spa pool and sauna, but also an indoor-outdoor heated pool. It was so refreshing to jump into the pool and get some fresh, crisp November air. The pool was perfectly warm – not too hot, not too cold, just refreshing. It was so cool to watch the steam come off the pool, and watch the skiers on the slopes.

The Nail Salon

We all wore Lily Pulitzer flip flops, like these!

We decided to warm up again in the steam room, and then it was back into the fluffy robes for our manicures and pedicures. The nail salon was so beautiful! It had big picture windows looking out at the ski hill, and we sat  in vibrating massage chairs which were faced towards the windows. All three of us were completing blissing out! This was our ideal manicure and pedicure situation.

Then, when they offered us complementary mimosas, all of our jaws dropped and we squealed in delight “yes please!” The pedicure was one of the best I’ve ever had. The massage, lotions and hot fuzzy booties (like these!) all felt so good!  Oh, and they put a warm neck wrap that was scented with eucalyptus (like these!) around our shoulders. We could have stayed there all day!

After our nails completely dried,  we changed into our suits and dipped in the indoor-outdoor pool one more time. Then, we all took a really long showers in their beautiful locker room. The showers were stocked with lavender shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. PLUS it had a eucalyptus shower spray (something like this!) that made the shower smell so good.

The Hotel Room and Dinner Plans

Feeling ultimately relaxed and clean, we made our way to our hotel room. The hotel room was so cute with a lounge, kitchenette and two bathrooms, which is a nice feature when you’re sharing a room with four girls.

Aren’t those pillows gorgeous!? I found similar decorative ones on Amazon.

For dinner, we debated between room service and going out, but ultimately decided on the Trophy Room which is a pizza place on property. We walked out of the main lodge towards what I think was the old main lodge, and it felt like walking in a mini Colorado. The snow guns were firing and the buildings were all lit up and beautifully decorated for Christmas.

The Trophy Room was a rustic pizza place and I was sold immediately when I walked in and saw an old fashion popcorn machine. We shared popcorn while waiting for pizzas and discussed my sister’s upcoming wedding. After pizza, we are all craving something sweet, so we went to the little Kilwin’s shop on property and shared chocolate covered Oreos.

You would think that after a day of relaxing we would have a little bit of energy to head to another bar! But we were all exhausted and our pajamas were calling our name. So instead, we headed back to the hotel and watched a Cameron Diaz flick while we fell asleep.

Boyne Mountain Spa and Resortreally treated us well! We had such a good day enjoying each other’s company, talking about wedding and holiday plans. It was also a really special time for us sisters to spend with our mom. We celebrated her birthday and each shared with her “10 ways I want to be like mom”. It was such a fun weekend, I hope we can go back every year!
