DIY Scrunchies

Have you noticed the scrunchie trend? It’s back, and I’m here for it. So, I splurged on an olive green Lululemon scrunchie, and I don’t regret it. I wear it all the time, on my wrist, in my hair, throw it in my purse… I dig it. I love that scrunchies are easy on your hair – they don’t pull or get caught. And I love that they add a pop of color to a pony tail, while making the pony tail look all floofy!  I was looking at my scunchie one day and I thought to myself, you know, I could probably make this. I turned it around in my hands a few times and I thought, I could definitely make this. And now you can make DIY scrunchies too!

What to Do Near Boyne City and Charlevoix

I’m such a big northern Michigan fan. There’s just so much beauty up there. Everything is spread out, and so much woods and spaces that are just untouched. Apart from our loved Gaylord, some of our favorite places are Boyne City and Charlevoix. Boyne City is at the base of Lake Charlevoix, about 40 min north east of Gaylord. Charlevoix is at the “top” of Lake Charlevoix, about an hour from Gaylord on the coast of Lake Michigan. Here we are going to highlight some of our favorite things to do and places to explore near these areas!

Traveling Skin Care Routine

Agh, skin care. It’s a love-hate relationship. My skin is a pretty constant battle. I had terrible acne in high school and most of college. I have tried it all from prescription topical creams and gels, oral antibiotics, so many different face soaps, lotions and routines, etc. And I use to always get stressed out about my skin prior to traveling because without fail I always seemed to breakout during and after travel. After several years of trial and error – and there was a lot of error, I am so happy to report my skin is the best it’s ever been! This is my skin care routine that works for me, and the extras I add to that routine before and during the flight to ensure I arrive at my destination fresh faced!

Top 3 Places to Ski In New Zealand

If you know us, you know that skiing and snowboarding are a huge part of our life. We both started to ski at the young age of 2, and our families took us skiing nearly every weekend in the winter. We met at a ski resort, where I was a ski instructor and James was training for the upcoming Vancouver Olympics in 2010. James was a professional snowboarder, and for years travelled the world chasing the winters and snowboarding at the best resorts and mountains in the world. If you ask him though, where his favorite place to ski or snowboard is, he will tell you New Zealand. Specifically, one mountain in New Zealand. Read on, and we will share our top three places to ski in New Zealand. Continue reading “Top 3 Places to Ski In New Zealand”

Airbnb: Pros & Cons

Airbnb isn’t a totally new thing, but James and I are slightly late to the party and have just started staying at Airbnbs this year! I realize, they are not for everyone. But they are for us! We love them. We’re no experts, but this year  we’ve stayed in three Airbnbs in a two month time period. Let’s talk about where we stayed, why we love Airbnb, why they aren’t for everyone, and what to look for when you book.

Four Days in Colorado’s Mountains

James and I spent a week in Colorado this spring! After spending three days in Denver with family (go check out that post here!), we set off to the mountains for four days of exploring Colorado JUST THE TWO OF US! You guys, this was the first trip we had taken just the two of us since our honeymoon. THAT WAS OVER THREE YEARS AGO. So, needless to say, four days in the mountains were just what we needed. Here’s what we got up to in four days in Colorado in May.

3 Day Denver Itinerary: Hiking, Dining, and Shopping

We were lucky enough to escape to Colorado for a week in early May! My cousin was getting married so we decided to make a trip out of it! I decided to split this post in two – because the first 3 days in Denver were very different than the last 4 days we spent in Silverthorne. So this post is all about Denver. Denver is a beautiful city, that really seems to pop up out of the middle of  nowhere. Here’s all the shopping, dining and hiking we got up to in the mile high city.

Go Pro Hero 5 Black Review: Pros and Cons

James and I bought a Go Pro Hero 5 Black for Christmas last year, and let me tell you, we love it. We were first introduced to the Go Pro when my sister and her boyfriend came to visit us in New Zealand. At the time, they had a small Go Pro 4 without a screen and it was in a waterproof case. They took it everywhere – skiing, swimming, biking, hiking – and they documented the trip so well! We loved the easy video settings, and the fish eye photos form the top of Treble Cone.

We have owned our Go Pro Hero 5 for about 5 months at the time of writing this, and like I said, we’re obsessed. BUT it didn’t come without a few headaches at first. If you’re thinking about buying a Go Pro, I’m here for you. I’m going to share the pros and cons of the Go Pro Hero 5 Black.

Spring 2018 Favorites: What We are Loving and Planning

I can’t believe how fast spring has flown by. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t have a ton of time to write the post I had planned for this week. I’ve been planning our trip to Denver and getting ready to start my new job! Not to mention celebrating my sister Allie’s upcoming wedding and my sister Mandy’s graduation.

I’ve been listening to tons of podcasts lately. I love to listen to them while I am working out, cooking, driving, or just doing whatever! One of my favorite Christian podcasts is the Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey. At the end of every podcast, Jamie asks her guests what they are loving and what they are reading. I love this and thought this was such a great idea. I don’t want to be that typical lifestyle blog that share things they love every month or every week, but I thought I’d share with you guys what I’m loving and reading each season!

What You Need to Know About Stenciling Floors: The Mistakes I Made

It’s been a minute since I posted a DIY project! So, I’m really excited to finally reveal our bathroom stenciled floor!  I had heard about stenciling floors, seen pictures, but when when I saw a stenciled floor in real life, I was like – DONE. I NEED to try that! I thought our first floor, small bathroom was the perfect place to start and experiment.

Like most DIY projects, it wasn’t smooth sailing. I want to share what I learned stenciling our floors and what I will do differently next time (because there will be a next time!). Here’s 8 things you need to know about stenciling floors.
